Prepackaged Diet meals Review – A look at the Medifast Diet
There is no doubt that the prepackaged diets are incredibly popular today. Few of us really have time to research, shop, prepare and package our low calorie or low carbohydrate foods. Sticking to a diet hard enough, then add the research and preparation, at least in my opinion, lessens the chance that you'll actually stick with and have success on the diet. And in the today's economy, very often, you'll realize that the cost of those prepackaged diets are actually lowercosts of trying to buy a bunch of groceries and gas waste to be collected. In this article I will examine one of the most popular schemes prepackaged and one I have had great success with – Medifast.
How Medifast Works: In the strictest sense, it is a prepackaged diet. Although there are many options from which to choose (women, men, diabetics, heart health and metabolism stimulant), all projects that will give you what it takesfoods to eat packaged foods company five times a day. Once a day you prepare your own meals fresh, important, healthy (which is called the "lean and green", and consist of lean protein and vegetables.) The examples are earthquakes and bars, puddings and cappuccinos, chili and stews, crackers and potato chips, fruit drinks and hot chocolate , etc. The taste for the most part is very good and better than I expected. And you can make it even betterby adding fat free syrups, whipped cream, sour cream, cheese, humus, etc. I really use the pudding as the basis for recipes that you can make muffins and cookies.
How ketosis and low carbohydrate diet Make This highly effective: Many people do not realize it, but it is technically a diet low in carbohydrates. All foods are low in calories and high in protein. This works to force your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. Since youare deprived of carbohydrates that would normally burn energy, it has more to turn on their fat reserves, which in turn will really ramp up your metabolism and weight loss.
I think that's why Medifast works so well and is so effective. Essentially, it works a bit like South Beach or Atkins diet, but you do not need to eat meat or eggs of all time. Consequently, many people see results very fast and spectacular in that they follow the instructions to a reasonabledegree.
Cost: The scheme of the cost is fairly typical of a prepackaged diet. It is around $ 8 – $ 10 per day and this can be best coupons, special offers and discounts are often available. When you think about it, with the cost of groceries and gas today, this may actually be less than you spend at the grocery store.
Bottom Line: At the end of the day, my review of Medifast is positive. It is a very efficient system, food ispretty decent tasting, and it is very convenient and easy to follow. They are not calorie counting, or many choices. You just eat mainly foods that they give you, and you're on your way.
Medifast is a healthy diet?
I lost a good bit of weight with this regime and have been on it for a while. I can not tell you how many people the question of my dramatic consequences, asking questions like "have you hungry?", "Is it safe to lose so much weight? "Or" Is this really healthy? "Now I'm no doctor, but I do not see regularly, and I can share with you what he said and what my experience has been on this diet. I also want to expel many myths and misunderstandingsI often by people who are just misinformed.
How Medifast works and why I think it is safe for those who use it as Realization: When I started this diet, my mother and my friends were mortified that I went on a hunger "or liquid diet alone. Let me say straight away that I do not drink shakes all day and I'm definitely not starve. Shakes are a choice in that system – not alone. I happen to love them, butEven so, I use only a few per day maximum. There are more than 75 foods on this plan – such as eggs, chili, stew, soup, oatmeal, etc., and eat six times a day. In one of these six meals, you eat a meal, great sound, which is composed of proteins and vegetables that you take yourself.
These foods are rich in protein and low in calories. They are prepackaged, but you are required to prepare a meal yourself so that you have found the variety of fresh and nutritious foodthat your body needs. So eating frequently keeps your metabolism up and ensure that you are getting enough. Now go and tell from 2800 calories per day to a little over a thousand takes some adjustment, but the plan is designed both to give your body what it needs and to encourage it to burn clean grease (because of the state high protein.)
I was not nearly as hungry as I was afraid and I never felt sick. But I do think there is a small subset of people who have not offered moreand this does not follow the plan as expected. Eating less than six meals provided, consuming only shakes, or skipping a meal of lean and green are not smart ideas. And, taking these freedoms are not wise giving rise to misunderstandings about the plan. I've never understood why people do. Medifast works so well and is very effective if you follow the directions and eat a wide variety of food selections that you are given. There is really no need to obtainmore drastic than that.
My Medical Background and Medifast: Before going into my medical situation, I would mention this system has been designed by doctors and this has been tested / studied at John Hopkins University. During this study it was found that people on Medifast lost more weight and respect of their diet almost twice as much as people on the ADA (American Dietetic Association) diet low in carbohydrates. The reasons are probably manythis, but the study was encouraging for me.
Before being started this diet, I was borderline diabetic, suffers from hypertension and suffered from high cholesterol. My doctor threatened me with the drug for which I am much too young. None of these medical conditions are a problem for me either. my blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol are now within normal limits. My doctor is very encouraging.
I believe Medifast has been much safer for meallowing me to continue on the path of bad habits and poor health (and a much better solution than the gastric bypass.) I've always been very careful to follow the plan to the letter and I always shared my intentions with my doctor. I firmly believe that if you do not take drastic shortcuts and use the food as it was designed then go in the maintenance plan once you've reached a reasonable and healthy goal loss weight you can safely lose an appropriate andhealthy amount of weight on this diet.

Losing Weight With Medifast – How Hard is It?
I’m just a stone throw away from hitting triple digit weight loss with the medifast diet. I’m proud of how I look and feel, but I’m more proud of the fact that, for once in my life, I stuck with a diet until I reached my goal. I’m often asked exactly how hard and difficult this was. Deep down, I think that people suspect that I have willpower of steel or that I cheated in some way. Neither of these things are really true. But, in the following article, I’ll tell you how hard this diet really is, or at least how hard it has been for me.
Ketosis Is Really The Key With Medifast: People often think that it’s the low calories in the diet which makes you lose weight. Because of this, many wonder why they can’t just cut drastically back on what they are eating and get the same results. I shared this thought process for a long time as well. I tried to eat a low amount of calories on my own and my results were nominal at best.
I had read about ketosis and I even knew that this is why Atkins and south beach work well. I had even had success on these types of diets before, but I didn’t connect the puzzle pieces because it was hard for me to wrap my brain around the fact that medifast is a high protein diet since you’re consuming chocolate shakes, oatmeal, pudding, and chips on it. No where in this diet are you eating pork rinds and eggs and this fact sort of threw me.
But, I soon learned the this diet is in fact high in protein and low in carbs – enough so that it sort of coaxes your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. And this means that you’re no longer allowing your body to burn all those excess carbs that you used to consume. Since you’re no longer providing those carbs, then your body has no choice than to burn what is available – and what is available is fat.
How Hard Or Difficult Is The Medifast Diet?: That’s not to say that ketosis does every ounce of the work for you. You will have to eat the foods and stay away from those things that they don’t want you to consume (although you do get to prepare a large meal each day on your own.) However, this process is a little bit easier because the amount of cooking and shopping that you will need to do will be minimal. Most of your food is provided for you. Mostly, you will eat five “medifast meals” each day and then make the one meal that I mentioned before. This really is not a lot to ask, especially since you don’t need to count or calculate anything. This helps you to focus on other things and doesn’t give you a ready excuse that the diet was just too complicated.
And, since your mind is free to think about things other than food, you might find, as I did, that you just aren’t as dragged down or limited by the process as you might have thought. I actually started a class and reconnected with some friends because I now had the time and confidence to do so. I’m not sure if I would say that medifast is unbelievably easy, but I certainly would not call it hard and it’s by far been the most convenient and effective diet that I have ever been on.
That’s not to say that you won’t know that you’re dieting. You will be eating different foods. Although there are over 70 food choices and you can add some sugar and fat free ingredients to have even more control over this, it’s not like you can eat whatever you want. You do not have free reign and there will be days when you’d rather not have another shake or chili. But, I’ll tell you, once the weight begins to come off at a steady clip, this becomes a very small point that isn’t as important as you might have thought.

Medifast Diet Ketosis – What Is It?
If you’ve been reading a lot about Medifast or other diets, you may have run across the word ketosis. When I was initially evaluating Medifast, ketosis was a huge, scary mystery to me. I wondered if ketosis was harmful to the body, how my body would feel in ketosis, and how I would know if I had really achieved it. After a lot of research, I finally got a good understanding of what ketosis is or isn’t. I’m going to share my findings on ketosis in this article. Keep in mind I am not a doctor. This is just my own interpretation from my own reading, research, and from my personal experience.
Ketosis is basically when you can convince or fool your body into burning its own fat or stored glycogen. Ketosis is a metabolic stage that occurs when your liver is no longer faced with stored glycogen and your your body then thinks you are fasting and switches to fasting / fat burning mode. Ketosis is normally seen in higher protein diets since you’re no longer feeding your body foods that store excess glycogen. The great thing about Medifast is the snack foods and shakes taste like desserts or carbs, but they are actually very high in protein and they encourage ketosis.
Ketosis isn’t as grave or as hard on your body as it sounds. Quite honestly, when you are actually in ketosis, your body feels suprisingly good. You don’t feel shaky, irritable or ravenous as you may have on other diets. In fact, in ketosis you will find that you actually feel satisfied, full, and you probably won’t be obsessing about or thinking about food the way you may have in the past. In a nutshell, ketosis kind of takes cravings and deprivation out of the equation.
You can actually measure if you are in ketosis by purchasing ketone strips which will check your urine to measure your body’s ketosis state. You can get a pretty decent sized bottle for about $5 at any drugstore. These strips are usually housed in the diabetes or diabetic section.
When I was first reading about ketosis and Medifast, it honestly turned me off. Ketosis is not an appealing sounding term. But once I educated myself, I realized that ketosis was really where I wanted my body to be. I realized if I could get my body in ketosis, it meant that I would probably lose weight as never before. This turned out to be absolutely true.
If you’re researching diets and ketosis, don’t let the phrase scare you. It’s actually a very friendly place to be and if you can get there it is going to help you turn your body into a fat burning machine.
