Bodybuilding is a sport?

Can you imagine that in an era where you can turn your television on ESPN and find the national spelling bee or the World Series of Poker that is even debatable? The fact is that both parties have a valid argument on this issue. From the outside, it appears that bodybuilding competitions are nothing more than male competition. Let's face it! The men in these competitions wear swimsuits while marching on the music sceneand flex their muscles. Is it then that? Yes, there is much more than the uneducated eye can miss, and certainly after reading the rest of this article, you can choose which side you fall on that subject!

What constitutes a sport? It is a question that has no definitive answer. When golf, Nascar racing and darts are made as sports without any resistance, why is it that bodybuilding still raises this level of negativity? To understand first the caseBodybuilding is now, we must understand where he was. Bodybuilding competitions in the early 1900s were a different matter much, so what we're used to today. The competition of old were divided into three different categories that each candidate would have to compete and be judged. The first is a showdown, followed by a skills competition, and finally by a general showcase musculature. It was not possible to win the event on anysingle category. The winner must excel in all three aspects of bodybuilding. It is safe to say that there was no debating whether bodybuilding is a sport in those times past. The fact that the two most athletic muscle were removed from the official competitions, leaves many people scratching their heads! It is prudent to assume that, for the most part, the winners of these competitions in the former have never been the best in each category. Thiswould be more logical for the reason that we now have individual competitions in each of these categories.

We are aware of the arguments many people have for bodybuilding is not a sport, but these are some of the reasons for his defense? I always said if you do not train for your competition, so there is no way you can be classified as a sport. Bodybuilder workout 5 to 6 times per week for up to two hours a day! I do not know what the statistics are onlywe are all at least know someone who has taken over the gym to get fit but had to quit, either due to a lack of dedication or too many injuries. You will not find anyone claiming these routines are easy, or that you will find people who enjoy giving up foods they enjoy for 3 month span. All this dedication and sacrifice they put in is the day of the competition. I bet you most people do not understand is that bodybuilders hirechoreographers to help them in their routines.

All Critics say yes bodybuilders can put the work in the gym, but it still does not change the fact that their competition is no more a contest of glory for men! If you're ready for the test, I challenge anyone reading this article to get up now and continues to flex your muscles for a full 3 minutes. If you took the challenge I hope you have regained consciousness bynow and are able to continue reading. This challenge was not too fun now was it?

My point was never to convince you that bodybuilding is or is not a sport but to open your mind to the possibility that they may be and is much more in competitive bodybuilding then meets the eye proverbial . The next time you're wondering whether bodybuilding is a sport to keep in mind how much effort, dedication and sacrifice of these people to do the same get to the point of beingon stage!
