- Produce. Always include lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet. The more colorful the better. Like red apples, purple cabbage, orange oranges, yellow bananas and greens like spinach and romaine lettuce. Fresh is best so try to eat what is in season. Frozen is the next best as these foods are frozen not long after harvesting.
- Good fats. This may not sound like a diet foods category but it is. We all need to have good fats in our diet. They help our bodies utilize the nutrients found in other foods. Examples of good fats are olive oil, flaxseed and flax oil, avocados and fatty fish like wild-caught salmon and tuna.
